Setting
7 Seeds is set in a Japan irrevocably transformed by a catastrophic meteorite collision that occurred many years prior. The event has led to drastic environmental alterations, including a climate that now features only two distinct seasons: a prolonged, intense rainy season and a drier period. The geography itself has undergone significant upheaval; major cities like Yokohama are now submerged beneath rising waters, with only the uppermost spires of landmarks, such as the Nagasaki Peace Park statue, peeking above the surface. Volcanic activity has further reshaped the land, fragmenting regions like Kyūshū into isolated islands. This drastically altered world is now home to evolving ecosystems where new species of plants and animals have emerged, forcing the surviving humans to navigate a hostile environment filled with mutated wildlife.
Plot
The narrative of 7 Seeds revolves around five distinct groups of young adults, each named after a season (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and a second Summer group designated B). These individuals are revived from cryogenic preservation as a last-ditch effort for human survival, a project codenamed “7 Seeds.” Awakened into a world devoid of the civilization they once knew, these groups must confront the immediate and daunting challenges of their drastically changed reality. Initial hurdles include deep-seated distrust among team members and the omnipresent dangers posed by mutated creatures that now inhabit the land. The story progresses as they slowly learn to cooperate, adapt to their new surroundings, and work together to overcome the perils they face. Simultaneously, they begin to unravel the profound mysteries surrounding their predicament and the circumstances that led to their revival, all while striving to survive against overwhelming odds.
Main Characters
Natsu Iwashimizu: A shy and withdrawn 17-year-old who identifies as a hikikomori, initially struggling with social interaction and the harsh realities of their new world. She is part of Team Summer B.
Arashi Aota: A compassionate 17-year-old high school student who possesses a strong leadership potential. He is a vital member of Team Summer B, often showing empathy and concern for his teammates.
