Setting
JoJolion is set in the fictional seaside town of Morioh, Japan, during the year 2011. This particular setting is deeply affected by the catastrophic Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, a real-world event whose aftermath profoundly shapes the town and its inhabitants. The natural disaster precipitates the appearance of mysterious, organic formations known as the Wall Eyes. These bizarre structures become a significant focal point within the narrative, intricately linked to the protagonist’s personal journey and the pervasive supernatural phenomena that define the story’s unique and often unsettling atmosphere.
Plot
The narrative of JoJolion centers on Josuke Higashikata, a young man who finds himself afflicted with severe retrograde amnesia, a condition that has erased his past. As Josuke desperately attempts to piece together his identity and uncover the truth of who he is, he becomes increasingly entangled in a complex and dangerous web of family secrets and ongoing conflicts. His relentless search for answers leads him to investigate the enigmatic Locacaca fruit, a mysterious entity possessing unique and potent properties that are central to the story’s escalating conflicts. Furthermore, Josuke’s journey involves critical interactions with the Rock Humans, an ancient and secretive group whose existence and motives pose significant and often deadly threats to him and his burgeoning circle of allies.
