Setting

The story primarily unfolds on these challenging mountain roads, with a particular focus on the iconic slopes of Mount Akina. It is here that the protagonist, Takumi Fujiwara, hones his extraordinary driving skills through his seemingly mundane daily tofu deliveries.
Plot Overview
The narrative centers on Takumi Fujiwara, an eighteen-year-old high school student who, unbeknownst to himself, has become an exceptionally skilled street racer through years of dedicated practice during his daily deliveries. His routine involves assisting his father at their tofu shop by delivering fresh tofu to a hotel situated atop Mount Akina, a task he undertakes using his father’s distinctive Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86), affectionately known as the “Hachi-Roku.”
As Takumi’s exceptional talent gradually comes to light, he finds himself encountering various formidable rival racing teams, including the local Akina SpeedStars and the formidable Akagi RedSuns. These encounters continually put Takumi’s nascent racing skills to the ultimate test. The plot escalates as Takumi is eventually recruited into Project D, a newly formed team with the ambitious objective of touring Japan and challenging the country’s best drivers. This transition leads to a series of intensely thrilling races and significant personal growth for Takumi and his fellow team members.
