The eighteen months that followed the Kuros’ eruption from their mountain prison were a descent into a global inferno. The world, so recently bustling with the marvels of Master Genryu’s civilization, became a canvas of ash and ruin. The Kuros, empowered by their ancient rage and the swift vessels they had commandeered, swept across the continents. The technological marvels that had once defined humanity’s dominion were systematically annihilated, their grand structures reduced to smoldering husks. Military might, depleted in the prior conflict against Aanza, offered little resistance to the monstrous tide. Humanity’s dominion crumbled, leaving behind a landscape of desolation where the Kuros, in their destructive glory, seemed to have achieved their ultimate purpose.

Yet, within the newly established cave base, a small pocket of humanity endured. Master Genryu and his three thousand loyal companions, including Kamen, Mitsuru and his five women—Ava, Yuki, Poi, Shika, and Jing—remained in seclusion. Their lives within the cavern were a study in humility and patience. Supplies, once abundant, dwindled with alarming speed. Every ration was meticulously accounted for, every portion reduced to sustain them for an indeterminate future. The gnawing hunger was a constant companion, a physical manifestation of their precarious existence. They lived on the scraps of what they had managed to bring from the sanctuary, supplemented by the meager resources they could scrounge from the immediate cave system, a constant struggle against depletion.

Mitsuru, leading his women, embodied this spirit of resilient austerity. They managed the dwindling stores with a quiet diligence, their days structured by the monotonous tasks of survival. The girls, once accustomed to a life of comfort and purpose, learned to subsist on less, their youthful exuberance tempered by the grim reality outside. They found solace in the shared hardship, their bonds deepening with each passing day.

Master Genryu, the unwavering beacon of their hope, maintained their faith with quiet pronouncements. He assured them, with an absolute certainty that bordered on prophecy, that the Kuros, their rage a consuming fire, would ultimately consume themselves. Their purpose, however destructive, was finite. He confirmed that only when the last of the Kuros had perished could they safely emerge from their subterranean sanctuary.

In the flickering glow of the campfire, a communal hearth in the darkness, Genryu would share stories. He spoke of the world that was, of legends and histories, of the inherent strengths that lay not in technology or might, but in unity, patience, and unwavering spirit. These tales, told in the hushed reverence of the cave, wove a tapestry of shared experience, binding them together with an unbreakable thread. Under the weight of their isolation and the encroaching despair, their relationships transformed, becoming profound alliances built on mutual reliance and a shared dream of a future. Kamen, ever observant and steadfast, emerged as Mitsuru’s most trusted companion, her quiet wisdom a steadying force, her counsel a source of solace and strategic insight. In the depths of the Sanctuary, among the survivors, he found his girl too, Kensa. Her presence became an anchor in the darkness, a reminder of what they fought to protect.

Then, as winter tightened its icy grip in December of 2045, eighteen months after their emergence, a new phase began. The Kuros, who had reveled in their destructive rampage across the open air, began to falter. Having lived underground for over three millennia, their physiology was irrevocably adapted to the subterranean environment. The prolonged exposure to the surface air, the very element they had sought to dominate, proved to be their undoing. A virulent contagion, born from their ancient adaptation to closed, subterranean spaces, began to spread. It was a swift and merciless epidemic. Their destructive purpose had been fulfilled, and their time had come. One by one, the Kuro civilization succumbed to the virus, their reign ending as abruptly as it began. Within two weeks, the planet was silent, save for the mournful winds that swept across the ruins.
