Setting
“The Rising of the Shield Hero” is set in a rich fantasy world where the mundane reality of Japan is contrasted with a realm teetering on the brink of annihilation. In this world, four young men are mysteriously summoned from Japan to serve as Cardinal Heroes. Plot
The narrative commences with the dramatic summoning of Naofumi Iwatani alongside three other young men, each designated as a Cardinal Hero. However, in stark contrast to his companions, Naofumi’s arrival is met with immediate and devastating betrayal and scorn from the kingdom’s court and its populace. This profound ostracism forces Naofumi into a solitary path of training, compelling him to independently hone his skills and understand the limitations and strengths of his defensive weapon. During his arduous journey, he makes a pivotal decision: he purchases a young demi-human girl named Raphtalia from a slave trader, who subsequently becomes his first and most loyal companion. As they face numerous daunting challenges together, their bond deepens, and they begin to cultivate a formidable team capable of confronting and battling the encroaching Waves and protecting their world.
