Setting

Gakuen Babysitters is primarily situated within the hallowed grounds of Morinomiya Academy, an esteemed institution renowned for its commitment to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for its students. A key feature of the academy is its integrated daycare center, specifically established to provide care for the children of the academy’s faculty. This unique setting becomes the central stage for the narrative, serving as the workplace for the protagonist, Ryuuichi Kashima. Here, he must artfully balance the demanding responsibilities of being a student with the profound duties of a caregiver.

Plot

The series commences with a devastating tragedy: Ryuuichi and his younger brother, Kotarou, are orphaned when their parents perish in a plane crash. In the wake of this profound loss, they are taken under the wing of Youko Morinomiya, the formidable chairwoman of Morinomiya Academy. She offers them sanctuary, a home, and an education, with the singular condition that Ryuuichi actively participates in and manages the school’s bustling daycare center. As Ryuuichi navigates the complexities of his new life, he dedicates himself to caring for Kotarou while simultaneously managing the often-chaotic antics of the diverse group of children under his charge. The narrative beautifully explores themes of found family, the weight of responsibility, and the poignant challenges of growing up when confronted by significant adversity.
